Usage

Disposable gloves are used throughout cannabinoid and terpene processing to keep formulations off the hands and to reduce contamination from skin, oils, dirt and other residues.

This is especially useful when working with thick cannabinoid distillates. Once a sticky distillate gets onto the skin it can be difficult to remove, can spread easily to tools and surfaces, and may require repeated cleaning with suitable cleaning alcohol or other solvents. Gloves make this much easier to manage and keep the work area cleaner.

Nitrile gloves are generally the most practical choice because they provide good chemical resistance while remaining flexible and easy to work with. This is particularly relevant when handling concentrated terpenes, cleaning alcohol or sticky cannabinoid residues.

Gloves are normally replaced when switching between different formulations or after touching unclean surfaces. Continuing to work with contaminated gloves can transfer residue between materials just as easily as working with unwashed hands.

Advantages

Reduces direct skin contact with cannabinoids, terpenes and cleaning products
Helps prevent contamination of formulations and product-contact equipment
Inexpensive and easy to replace between different tasks

Disadvantages

Can still transfer contamination between materials if not replaced when necessary
Thin disposable gloves provide limited protection against heat

Material suitability

Specification notes

Nitrile preferred for general cannabinoid, terpene and cleaning work
Correct glove size for good control
Powder-free construction to avoid contamination

Safety notes

Disposable gloves do not replace heat-resistant gloves when handling hot beakers, syringes or other heated equipment
Gloves should be replaced if torn, punctured or visibly contaminated
Hands should still be washed to ensure a safe working environment
